 AmeriCorps VISTA – Program Development Associate

Major Responsibilities: The Program Development Associate VISTA will support the mission of Bright Futures through resource development, community outreach and marketing efforts.

 

Programmatic

-Support and promote the mission of Bright Futures

-Create and maintain marketing materials

-Maintain website, website calendar and social media outlets

-Create and submit quarterly newsletter

-Participate in applicable local, regional and statewide meetings and events

-Gather early childhood provider updates bi-annually

-Gather and maintain data and measurable outcomes related to projects and programs

-Assist in the expansion of existing programs

-Assist in coordinating and hosting trainings and events

-Coordinate School Readiness Calendar

-Provide outreach and support related to improving quality of early childhood education as it relates to Colorado Shines

-Assist with compliance related to Early Childhood Council rules

 

Fund Development

-Assist in fundraising, donor campaigns and writing grants

-Create and submit reports related to grants and programs

 

Required Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree and/or background in early childhood education, health/human services, or related nonprofit experience

-Proficient computer skills which includes but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Docs

-Public speaking ability

 

Secondary Qualifications

-Self-motivated; proven excellent performance standards and quality of work

-Effective interpersonal communication skills including group presentations, training, and one-on-one conversations

-Event facilitation and management

-Excellent written communications

-Organizational skills, detail-oriented, attention to deadlines

-Ability to multi-task with constantly changing priorities and excellent follow-through skills

-Ability to work independently and as a team player

 

Supervision: The Program Development Associate VISTA will be primarily based in Bright Future’s Telluride office, with up to three days a week in a satellite office in Ridgway or Ouray (TBD).   The Supervisor for this position is Bright Futures’ Executive Director, Kathleen Merritt.

AmeriCorps VISTA

This position will be filled by an AmeriCorps*VISTA member. To qualify for AmeriCorps*VISTA, you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident, be team-oriented, and be willing to take on a wide range of challenges. Once chosen for this position, if not already a VISTA member, you must go through the necessary paperwork to become a VISTA member.

Community Resource Center: This AmeriCorps VISTA position is managed through the Rural Capacity Building VISTA Project of the Community Resource Center (CRC). CRC provides this resource to its partners in rural communities, and manages the recruitment, orientation, and reporting required for VISTA members. Bright Futures serves as a sub-site of the Project, and will provide project and on-site supervision of the Program Development Assistant.
