Wisdom of the Body Workshop, for Parents and Providers, Leanne Cesario, 2 ECE

San Miguel County Meeting Room, Miramonte Bldg, 2nd Floor, 333 W. Colorado Ave, Telluride

Our body is a highly intelligent “self” – not just the physical form, but also how we embody learning.  It is through the body that we can experience transformational change.

In this workshop we will:

  • Learn the Five dispositions for powerful presence. Practice holding ourselves differently, allowing our bodies to speak and experience new possibilities. Become aware of our relationship with our physical self, and remove boundaries of movements.
  • Learn to have our bodies intelligence become an asset while we learn and teach.

This workshop will be experiential and include; partner practices, conversations for reflection and action, and a question/answer period.

Understanding Learning: A metacognitive look at learning in the brain, for Parents and Providers, Amy Laubenstein , 2 ECE

Ridgway Community Center, 201 N. Railroad, Ridgway

Learning can be baffling to both student and educator. Why do some students "get it" and consequently "lose it," the very next day?  Why does information get lost in a void, while something completely anecdotal remains in a student's mind forever? A journey through the brain and understanding how learning takes place may help to unlock some of these mysteries. By understanding how learning takes place, we as educators will be in a better position to teach in a manner that is more meaningful to our students!
